After being without a home since December 31, 2020, we have purchased a building for our new home.<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5174\" src=\"https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dh210620-170746-600x450-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dh210620-170746-600x450-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/dh210620-170746-600x450-1.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/> <br \/>Now for the downside of ownership.\u00a0 Fixing up a building that was built in 1955 and had not been occupied for over 3 years.<\/p>\r\n<p>So we swept out the cobwebs and dusted and cleaned.\u00a0 Then we needed some polish, so we removed some old carpet and flooring, and installed some new.<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5175 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/during1-400x533-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/during1-400x533-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/during1-400x533-1.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 85vw, 225px\" \/> Some people took on a job that they thought was simple, but turned out to be very difficult!\u00a0 So with the help of many volunteers from our community, we are giving new life to this old building.\u00a0 Some people are installing flooring, fixing stairs,\u00a0 unpacking boxes, fixing toilets and sinks.<\/p>\r\n<p>A crew came in for several days to prep and paint the lower level.\u00a0 We even put some of our younger members to work.<\/p>\r\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5177\" src=\"https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_9167-400x444-1-270x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_9167-400x444-1-270x300.jpg 270w, https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/img_9167-400x444-1.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 85vw, 270px\" \/> We promise we did not work them too hard and we even fed them!\u00a0 We still have a lot of work to do before we have a grand opening sometime this fall.<\/p>\r\n<p>As with all ownership, we now have expenses to renovate and maintain our new home.\u00a0 We need a new furnace\/air conditioner or two before long.\u00a0 Please help us with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secularhub.org\/building-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">donation to our building fund.<\/a><\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Secular Hub is no longer homeless!
